Meet Ayesha

What started as curiosity about how traditional ice cream is made, quickly became a full-blown passion.

During a sabbatical from the hectic world of Hospitality, while looking after my beloved senior dogs, I read everything I could about the craft of old fashioned ice cream. I became determined to make it the way it should be made, which as I learned, was completely different to what our palates were used to.

The Early Days Were Messy

Broken eggs, burnt sugar, and custard that was more lumpy than smooth. But those magical moments when a flavour came together perfectly were when I knew I was onto something special. A friend lent me a small 1 litre electric ice cream churner she had brought back from Italy, and before I knew it, a Creamery took shape. What started as kitchen trials shared with a handful of friends has grown into the menu and team you see today.

What’s in a Name?

Chubby Cheeks' Creamery is named in honor of Buddy Chubby Cheeks — rescued black Labrador, soul dog, and the brightest part of our days. Buddy was many things: a hopeful taste tester, a watchful listener, and the sweetest ice cream negotiator. From his spot at the kitchen door, he would wait with the focus of a hawk and the patience of a saint — always hoping for just one lick of ice cream.

Long before there was a menu, there was Buddy — bringing comfort, joy, and mischief to the journey. He was very, very loved. And though he is no longer with us, Buddy’s inspiration and gentle spirit live on at the Creamery, in every scoop we share.

What brings us together is simple: a belief that real ingredients and a little bit of nutty passion make ice cream worth remembering.
